The Project

It is the goal of  the consortium to build a state-of-the-art production facility for the manufacturing of school furniture. It is important to integrate the components, agriculture, employment of farmers and their families and vocational training as a social employer. The occupations involved range from farm workers to high-tech specialists who can operate the IT-controlled milling-, sawing- and drilling machines. It is important that Liberia takes the step from simple activities and the farm economy to modern production methods. Without public funding for such start-up projects, the private sector will not be able to make the initial investments. Cooperation between the state and the private sector is therefore essential to accelerate economic development in Liberia as a whole.

Using the state-of-the-art machinery, the intention is to achieve a production rate of 2,500 chairs per month after a six-month training phase. This includes the challenge of extensive logistics, but also the timely and careful delivery of the products.

 


The production facility is equipped with state-of-the-art woodworking machines. Centerpiece is the CNC milling machine, which does most of the work. This milling machine can also be adjusted and checked by the manufacturer via remote maintenance. All machines are of course also suitable for the production of other pieces of furniture, in particular tables and shelves, which can also be manufactured for the schools.

Up to 80 employees will be trained in highly specialized occupations and then employed until full production begins.

A specially trained QM team will continuously monitor quality.
